Abstract

This study was designed to analyze the curriculum of 3 years nursing program and B.S program. The sample was consisted of 8 B.S programs and 20 of 3 years program selected with convinience.

The results of the study were as follows ;

1. In the point of nursing educational philosophy, both the B.S program and 3 years program emphasized the contribution of development of the nation and human. They regard man as integrated being of physical, mental, and social aspects ; health as optimum well being or a dynamic status of well being ; nursing as health maintenance and promotion. Not many school mentioned about environment.

2. The educational purposes for B.S programs were developing professional nursing, ability of carrying out the role of nursing leader, involvement of social development and social service. On the other hand, the purposes for 3 years programs were training professorial nurses, leading figures and promote health welfare of people.

3. The average total credit of the B.S program was 151 credit hours. The ratio of general subjects versus professional subjects was 30:70. The average total credit of 3 years program was 147 credit hours. The ratio of general subjects versus professional subjects was 20:80.
4. The credit hours of the general subjects of 3 years programs was 12 credit hours more than those of B.S programs. The credit hours of required nursing subjects was 63 credit hours for B.S.N. programs and 73 credit hours for 3 years programs.

Based on the above findings the followings were suggested.
J, The study of the conceptual framework consistant with educational philosophy and

There were little differences between the curricular of BSN programs and those of 3 years courses. There should be more opportunity for the graduates of 3 years cours
to e to gain the degree of BSN through BSN supplemental courses in the Bachelors
pi,ogram.
